The implementation of the majority of recommendations in the Final Report ("Final Report") of the Working Party on Civil Justice Reform ("CJR") requires legislative amendment. The Steering Committee on Civil Justice Reform has issued this Consultation Paper to invite comments on the proposed legislative amendments. The proposed amendments to both primary and subsidiary legislation should be read in the context of the recommendations and text of the Final Report.
The Steering Committee would be grateful for comments by 12 July 2006. In view of the tight legislative timetable, the Steering Committee may find it difficult to give any extension of time for response, as this would affect and delay the progress of this legislative exercise.
